Some Basic Principles of Christian Dating

Christian Dating does not lay down any special ethics for young people. Basic Principles of Christian Dating would simply include adhering to basic Christian values as per the Bible, just like in all other spheres of life. It may seem very simple, but it can be quite challenging.

Certain basic principles of Christian dating can be:
-Not going on a date very frequently. This will retain the charm of your friendship and will leave scope to know more about the other person till your next meeting.
-Not going on a date alone. It is advised to go on a date with another couple. This arrangement makes it easy to remember your limits.
-Not giving in to any demand for physical intimacy with your partner. This is to walk on the way shown by God, as God has set a time for all things in life.
-Keeping God, before anybody else, and loving Him more than anybody.

Sticking To Your Values
One should not feel pressurized by what other people around him or her do, or how they feel about what you are doing. It is very easy to get influenced and be steered in the wrong direction. It is therefore important to remember the basic principles of Christian dating and uphold your values. Only a Christian will know about these values. Therefore, it is advisable for a Christian to have a person with the same belief for his or her date.

Dating A Person With The Same Faith
A person from your own faith gives you strength to do things. This person acts as your support when you feel burdened under the pressure of happenings around you. On the other hand, dating a non-Christian will automatically increase the chances of your wandering away from religion and neglecting the basic principles of Christian dating.

Finding The Right Person
Christian dating sites are the ideal spots to find like-minded people. These sites have a large number of people from the same faith and you can shortlist a few if they seem like-minded, having similar interests and hobbies as you. These sites are safe and you can be quite assured of meeting the right people who will follow the basic principles of Christian dating. These sites also provide scope of exchange of ideas between two people, before they actually meet. In this manner, you can decide whether a person holds same ideas as you or not.

“If anyone has this world’s goods (resources for sustaining life) and sees his brother and fellow believer in need, yet closes his heart of compassion against him, how can the love of God live and remain in him? Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth...”

I’ve heard it said that you can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving. Notice this verse tells us that love isn’t just about our words or thoughts; it’s about our actions. Love is about reaching out and meeting the needs of others. Sometimes meeting someone’s needs is as simple as a smile or sharing a word of encouragement. There are many ways to show the love of God. Can you pay for someone’s gas or groceries? Do you see a need in someone’s life that you can meet? Remember, you are the hands and feet of Jesus in the earth. The Lord wants to bless you today so that you can be a blessing to others. He wants to work through you to show His love and compassion.
Today and every day, look for ways to put your love into action. The Bible says that it’s His kindness that leads people to repentance. He wants to show His kindness in the earth through you. Step out and sow good seeds of love by meeting the needs of others. God promises that those seeds will produce an abundant harvest in your life in return!

Christian Dating - Make It Romantic

Christian dating could be seen as the first few steps on the road to Christian marriage. Indeed this is how most Christians do see dating. Of course, this doesn't mean planning the wedding from the first date but it does mean dating with the idea of Christian marriage in mind. Which is simply a scary way of saying that when you date as a Christian you go on that date open to the idea that this person could be the one with whom you fall in love and marry.

Christian dating mistake Number ONE:  Not dating with romance in mind
The biggest dating mistake made by many Christians is that they are not going on Christian dates at all. This doesn't mean that you are not going to Christian places or doing Christian activities, or even that you're not dating other Christians. It means that you are making the mistake of thinking that simply being a Christian and having a date equals Christian dating. This is not so. The date itself must be within the framework of Christian ethical standards - how Christians treat other people. Your date should not be with you simply because they are nice to look at, or nice to be seen with. Nor should your date be simply company because you don't want to be alone.

Many Christians make the mistake of asking someone out on a romantic date when all they really want is someone to go out with as a friend. This leads to obvious complications when you have one person viewing the other as a potential friend, whilst being viewed by them as a potential husband or wife. Christians make this mistake all the time due to the lack of sexual pressure in Christian dating. Knowing that sex is out of the question and with strict personal rules on other acts of intimacy, it is easy to find yourself in 'friend mode' rather than viewing your date as a potential spouse. Dating with marriage in mind means thinking of your date, right from the first date, as someone with whom you could build a romantic, loving friendship with that results in marriage. Christian dates should be romantic from the outset.

What is the difference between Christian dating and non-Christian dating? To most people the answer lies in what you do on that date. It's an easy one to answer. Christians are not going to have sex on the date and may even choose not to kiss. Now ask yourself the difference between Christian dating and two people going out as friends, for a meal or a movie? The answer lies in how the couple view each other. The friends, see each other as friends and treat each other accordingly. The dating couple should be viewing each other as dates, not simply as friends.
Imagine two friends, going out for a meal to catch up on old times but during the meal the man starts seeing his friend as a date. Unless she starts seeing him as a date the evening is going to end up in upset. Now imagine, a Christian couple on a date but while she sees her date as a date, he sees her as a friend - this evening too will end in disappointment.

To avoid the biggest dating mistake made by Christians, simply make sure you are going on a Christian date. Not a night out with a friend but a date. When you consider asking someone out on a date, ask yourself first if you could see yourself in a romantic relationship with this person. Don't be one of those Christians who find someone they like as a friend and ask them out on a date (knowing there will be no sexual pressure) with the idea that at 'some' time in the future things 'may' get romantic. Christians know that romance doesn't mean sex but dating should mean romance - right from the first date.

Don't Put Off 'till Tomorrow What You Should Do Today

“I made haste, and did not delay to keep Your commandments.”
(Psalm 119:60, NKJV)

Isn’t it interesting how easy it is to put things off? We plan on doing something. We have good intentions. We want to do it, but we just think we’ll get to it later. “One day I’m going to start exercising. One day I’m going to get my finances in order. One day I’m going to forgive that person who hurt me.” The problem with this kind of thinking is that “one day” never comes. There will always be some reason to keep delaying it.
Is there something in your heart that you know you need to do? Maybe God has been dealing with you, and you keep putting it off. You think, “As soon as I get through this busy season, then I’ll spend more time with my family. As soon as the price of gas goes down, then I’ll start tithing my income. As soon as my child gets out of diapers, then I’m going to get my family back in church.” The problem is that good intentions don’t equal obedience. The quicker you do what you feel down in your spirit, the happier you’re going to be. Don’t let unfinished business keep you from God’s best. Step out. Obey His voice and walk in the blessing He has for you!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, thank You for Your patience and grace toward me. Search my heart. Lead me in Your ways. I choose to obey Your voice quickly and honor You in all that I do in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Christian online dating can be a great way for single people who are frightened or apprehensive of the online dating experience. Because the target demographic includes people who adhere to a spiritual lifestyle, and therefore have similar morals and values, Christian dating websites can provide a safe environment for their users.

The internet has become an important outlet for the dating industry, including Christian dating services. Christian online dating, for some, is a great way to find love, especially if they are looking for someone that shares a devotion to faith and ideals and hopes for a similar lifestyle.  Many people are concerned that Christian online dating is not right for them, for a variety of reasons. Some concerns include the accuracy of profile matches and the truthfulness of other dating service subscribers, but Christian dating services have eliminated the obstacle of spiritual compatibility. The fact that a person is searching for another Christian single immediately eliminates the awkwardness of touching the subject of religion. If two people are compatible in religion, they may be compatible in other ways as well.

Churches often stress the benefits of love, marriage, and family life, and Christians are encouraged to form relationships with others. Many Christian singles face the reality that meeting other eligible Christians can be quite difficult. In small churches often find it hard to meet enough single people, while singles in large church communities feel under the spotlight, or find it hard get to know people well. For most Christian singles, the opportunities of meeting Christians from other denominations or even just different churches can be rare. Christian Dating Services emerged because Christian singles needed a way to contact other Christian singles in their community. The Christian dating service industry has since grown as a service and business.

We Will Never Be Tempted Beyond What We Can Bear

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
(1 Corinthians 10:13, NKJV)

Meet Christians who share your Faith
We all go through challenges, disappointments and unfair situations. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and think, “This is too much. I can’t deal with this illness. I can’t handle this difficult child.” Or, “I can’t take this traffic. It’s driving me crazy.” But, God promised He will never let us face more than we can bear. Nothing that comes your way in life is too much for you.
This is what Joseph did. He was betrayed by his brothers, thrown into a pit and spent years in prison for something he didn’t do. But, he didn’t get depressed. He didn’t start complaining. His attitude was, “With God, I can handle it. God is still on the throne. I’m going to stay in faith and keep being my best.” In the end, he was made second in charge over all of Egypt.
Today, if you are feeling burdened and overwhelmed by circumstances, know that with God, all things are possible. No person can keep you from your destiny, no bad break, no disappointment, no sickness. Keep believing, keep hoping, keep praying and keep moving forward because you can handle whatever comes your way!

Give Glory to God for His Greatness

“And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body...he did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform...”
(Romans 4:19–21, NKJV)

Abraham, who is known as our father in the faith, had many obstacles coming against the promise of God in his life. God told him that he would be “the father of many nations.” Abraham was over 90 years old before he ever saw that promise begin to come to pass. This scripture tells us that He didn’t consider his body. He didn’t think and meditate on all the reasons why he couldn’t be the father of many nations. No, he considered and thought about the strength and ability of God! He thought about God’s faithfulness and gave praise and glory to Him. The faith that Abraham exercised opened the door for God to do mighty things in and through Him.
Today, what are you believing God for? Does it seem impossible? Has it taken a long time? Consider your God. Consider His Word. Consider His faithfulness. Just like Abraham, you’ll grow strong in faith as you give glory to God. Trust Him today and experience the victory He has in store for you tomorrow!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, thank You for Your faithfulness and strength at work in my life today. I choose to consider Your ability over my circumstance. I choose to trust You and give You praise, honor and glory, now and always in Jesus’ name. Amen.
